My background started in graphic design, later followed by an MA in Textile Design at Norwich University of the Arts.
My basketry weaving work involves using plant based fibres of sisal, abaca, jute, flax and cotton with traditional basketry techniques such as twining, binding, coiling and weaving to create structures that evolve slowly as the work progresses. I work from my studio in Norfolk and create hand made one-off pieces as well as a range of rope basketry kits suitable for any crafter to make at home using natural renewable materials.
I am a member of the Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society and my basketry work also features in the Crafts Council Directory.
My illustrative designs on cards, mugs, coasters and textiles are first created in my sketchbook and then digitally manipulated for print. Colour palettes are varied with complementary colour schemes running alongside subtle harmonious combinations.
